BOH Wiz turns your team's prep list into ready-to-print labels. Tap an item, the label prints with the right name, prep date, and expiration. Print one item at a time during prep, or batch-print a whole station's labels in a single tap before service. The app and the integration are free; you only pay for the printer (one-time) and the labels (refill).
15 seconds with a sharpie becomes 3 seconds with a tap. A 50-item prep day saves about 10 minutes daily, or roughly an hour every six days. That's labor that goes back into actual prep, not handwriting.
Every label looks the same. No squinting at a smeared sharpie under cooler humidity. The line cook and the closing manager see exactly the same date in exactly the same font, every time.
Use-by dates are calculated from the item's shelf-life rule, not from someone counting forward in their head at 5 AM. Sets the right date even on the day after a holiday weekend when the math gets weird.
Every printed label is logged with timestamp, user, and item. If a health inspector asks when something was prepped, you can pull the record without opening the walk-in. Same for tracking which prep runs led to waste.
Labels are grouped by station in the app. The garde manger team batch-prints their morning labels separately from the saute team. No one is digging through a pile of mis-sorted stickers.
The expiration alert tells you the day before something is about to expire. The Friday-night manager sees Saturday's expiring items and uses them in the special instead of throwing them out Sunday morning.
The same prep-list-to-label flow handles three distinct moments in the shift.
Single print during service: the saute cook breaks down a fresh batch of stock at 4:30 PM, taps "Print" on the stock entry in the app, the label comes out of the Zebra. 3 seconds.
Batch print before service: at the start of the AM prep shift, the manager taps "Cold Prep Station" in the app, every label for every cold-prep item prints in order. The crew labels containers as they prep, no one is writing dates by hand.
Reprint and update: a container falls, the label tears, no problem — open the item in the history view, tap reprint. The label comes out with the original prep date intact.
See the Integration in ActionDefault fields are: item name, prep date, prepared-by initials, and use-by date. All four are populated automatically from the prep list and the staff member's login. You can also turn on optional fields per label type:
Per-item allergen tags (gluten, dairy, nuts, shellfish) print as icons or text on the label.
Identify which station the item belongs to for line organization.
Sequential batch IDs for items where multiple batches per day matter (sauces, doughs, stocks).
Scan-to-open the recipe card for that item — useful for new staff who need a refresher on prep specs.
$299.99 for the Zebra ZD411 printer (one-time), $129.99 for a 4,672-label refill. The app and integration are free.
