Step-by-step fixes for your BOH Wiz label printer. Most problems on this page clear in under two minutes. Still stuck after trying these, call 866.626.4949 — it reaches a real person.
Work these in order. Step 1 of the first card fixes the large majority of calls we get.
The app is holding a stale Bluetooth session. A full power cycle of both sides clears it.
An internet connection is required — the app talks to our servers to fetch labels. Check Wi-Fi before anything else.
Usually the tablet is holding an old pairing, or two devices are fighting over the same printer.
These printers are direct thermal — there is no ink. A blank label almost always means the roll is in upside down or it isn't thermal stock.
The one people miss. The printer finds the gap between labels with a movable sensor sitting in the media path. Knock it off its default spot — easy to do while clearing a jam — and the printer can no longer tell where one label ends. You get blank labels, skipped labels, or printing straight across the gap.
The sensor only needs to leave centre for unusual media — such as two labels side by side on one roll. For standard gap labels, centre is correct.
The printer has lost track of where each label starts. Calibration fixes it.
Never yank a stuck label backward through the printhead — that's how printheads get scratched, and scratches show as a permanent white line on every label afterward.
A paused printer looks identical to a broken one: it's connected, it accepts jobs, and nothing comes out.
The diamond-shaped light on the left is the one that matters. Read it before you start troubleshooting.
The right-hand light is the network indicator and only applies to networked printers.
Teaches the printer the size and gap of your labels. Run it after any jam, roll change that misfeeds, or reset.
You don't need to recalibrate on every roll change — only when feeding goes wrong.
Clean after roughly every 5 rolls. Skipping this is the single most common cause of faded or streaky labels.
Never use a knife, scraper, or anything metal on the printhead.
A last resort. You will need to run a SmartCal afterward, and reconnect from the app.
Open BOH Wiz on your phone or tablet and tap Help for illustrated PDFs, plus printer tools that send commands directly — feed a label, calibrate, print a config label, or cancel stuck print jobs.
