Square POS integration

Print labels from your Square items

Connect your Square account once. Your items, prices and allergens appear in BOH Wiz, ready to print, with a price barcode your Square register can scan. Questions? Call 866.626.4949 or email [email protected].

Set up in four steps

  1. Sign in to the BOH Wiz manager at bohwiz.com/manager as an organization admin and open Labels & Printing, then Square POS in the sidebar, or go straight to bohwiz.com/manager/#/integrations/square.
  2. Choose Connect Square. Square asks you to sign in and approve read-only access to your items and your business profile.
  3. You return to BOH Wiz, which confirms the connection. Your first sync starts on its own.
  4. Your Square items appear as labels. Open the BOH Wiz app on an iPhone, iPad or Android tablet and print.

Square must approve the connection from the same BOH Wiz sign-in that started it. If the page asks you to connect again, just start over from step 2.

What syncs from Square

BOH Wiz asks Square for two read-only permissions: ITEMS_READ and MERCHANT_PROFILE_READ. BOH Wiz never writes to Square. It cannot change your items, prices or orders.

  • Item names, variations and categories
  • Prices, including price per weight unit
  • SKUs, used as PLUs
  • UPCs
  • Calories and Square’s allergen fields
  • Item descriptions, as ingredients, only if you leave that option on

Changes you make in Square reach BOH Wiz shortly afterward. A full refresh also runs nightly, and the Square page in the manager shows when the last sync finished.

Questions

How do price-embedded barcodes work?

For items sold by weight, BOH Wiz can print a barcode that carries the item and the price of that exact package. It is a UPC-A code that starts with 2, followed by a 5-digit PLU and the price in cents. Square’s register reads these barcodes. The largest price it can carry is $999.99.

The PLU is the item’s SKU in Square, so the SKU in Square must be the 4 or 5 digit PLU, digits only. An item with no SKU, or a SKU that is not 4 or 5 digits, prints without a price barcode.

How do I set up an item sold by weight?

  1. In Square, set the item’s price to a price per weight unit, such as per pound.
  2. Enter the 4 or 5 digit PLU as the item’s SKU.
  3. Wait for the next sync, or choose Sync now on the Square page in the manager.
  4. In BOH Wiz, weigh the item, type the weight, and print. The label shows the price per unit, net weight, total price and the price barcode.

Does BOH Wiz work with a scale?

Today you type the weight in the app. Bluetooth scale support is coming.

Which printers can I use?

BOH Wiz prints from iPhone, iPad and Android tablets to Zebra-compatible thermal printers, over Bluetooth or over the store’s Wi-Fi network. If you already have a Zebra, it works with BOH Wiz. For printer problems, see printer help.

What does it cost?

There is no monthly software fee. The printer and labels are sold separately. See pricing.

How do I disconnect Square?

Open the Square page in the manager and choose Disconnect. BOH Wiz tells Square to revoke its access, deletes the stored Square tokens and deletes the connection record. The labels created from your Square items stay in your BOH Wiz account, because they are your labels, and they stop updating. We keep limited troubleshooting logs of past syncs. You can also remove BOH Wiz from your Square account at any time, and BOH Wiz then disables the connection.

More detail is in the privacy policy.

An item did not show up or looks wrong

  • Choose Sync now on the Square page, then check the last sync result.
  • If you deleted a synced label in BOH Wiz, BOH Wiz does not recreate it and it stops updating from Square. Call us and we will help reconnect it.
  • If a price barcode is missing, check the SKU rule above and that the price is $999.99 or less.
  • If the connection shows as disabled, connect Square again.
